The development was disclosed by counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X.
The operation was conducted by troops of the 196 Amphibious Battalion and the Nigerian Army Brigade Lake Chad.
Security sources said Saidiq voluntarily surrendered an AK-47 rifle with registration number 02657, along with a magazine containing 26 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect decided to abandon the group following sustained military pressure on terrorist elements operating in the area.
Sources also said Saidiq had lost interest in continuing his involvement in terrorist activities.
His surrender comes amid intensified military operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and weakening the operational capacity of insurgents operating in the Lake Chad region.
Saidiq is currently in military custody for profiling and further investigation. Authorities are expected to establish his role within the terrorist group, his operational history and possible links to other members of the network.
The surrendered rifle and ammunition have also been secured as investigations continue.
The development is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to restrict terrorist movements, disrupt their operations and encourage fighters willing to abandon terrorism to surrender.
