Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has emerged as the sole governorship candidate of the Accord Party, only hours after announcing his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that His clearance followed his formal entry into the Accord Party on Tuesday evening, where he cited persistent leadership issues within the PDP as the reason for his exit.
At the party’s primary venue on Wednesday, about 150 delegates drawn from all local government areas of the state convened to affirm the governor as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2026 election cycle. The Accord Screening Committee confirmed his readiness to participate in the primary process.
The Chairman of the Screening Committee and National Organising Secretary of the Accord Party, Elder Ibe Thankgod, announced that the governor met all requirements for nomination.
“The governor has fulfilled all the requisite requirements for nomination and participation at the primary,” he said while presenting Adeleke with a certificate of clearance.

Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation for the party’s support and assured members of his commitment to securing victory for the Accord Party.
“I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” he said.
