EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian-born fighter was stopped in the second round by rising American contender Joe Pyfer, who secured a technical knockout at 4:18 of Round 2 following a dominant ground and pound finish.
Adesanya, who entered the bout with a 24-5 record, started strongly, controlling distance and landing counter strikes in the opening round. However, Pyfer absorbed the early pressure and shifted momentum with heavy punches and a decisive takedown.
In the second round, Pyfer pinned Adesanya against the fence before dragging him to the canvas. He advanced to full mount and unleashed sustained strikes, forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the contest.
Despite the loss, Adesanya remained defiant. In a post fight interview, he dismissed calls for retirement.
“I will keep going again and again and again and again. I’m not f***ing leaving. You can’t stop me.
“I might get beaten, but I’d always remain undefeated,” he said.
The defeat raises further questions about the 36-year-old’s future in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He had previously lost to Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis and Nassourdine Imavov, who stopped him in February 2025.
For Pyfer, the victory extended his winning streak to four fights, strengthening his position as a rising contender in the division.

Reflecting on his performance, he said, “I just have this mentality where I don’t care; I’m going to search and destroy.”
Adesanya, however, insisted he remains focused on continuing his career.
“I’m just going to keep going and going and going,” he said.
