AFCON Qualifiers: Ndidi Slams Libyan Authorities Over Embarrassing Airport Delay

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has called the Libyan authorities’ decision to hold the team for hours at Al-Abraq Airport “very embarrassing.”

The Super Eagles were scheduled to face Libya in Benghazi, aiming to secure their qualification for the AFCON finals in Morocco next year.

However, after being stranded at an airport 250 km (155 miles) from their destination for over 16 hours, the Nigerian players expressed their refusal to proceed with the match.

Reacting to the development via his official Instagram handle, Ndidi stated that this is not football being displayed by Libya.

The Leicester City star was part of the Nigerian side that beat Libya 1-0 on Friday thanks to Fissayo Dele-Bashiru’s strike.
