Former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primary election held on Monday.
Naija News reports that Amaechi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, described the results announced by the party as “concocted,” alleging widespread disenfranchisement and electoral irregularities during the exercise.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the former minister stated that he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome of the primary if the process was free, fair and transparent.
“I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced,” Amaechi stated.
“I had initially stated that I will only accept the outcome of the Primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, and I stand by my word.”
Amaechi alleged that a significant number of ADC members across the country were prevented from participating in the election.
According to him, the alleged disenfranchisement undermined the credibility and integrity of the exercise.
“There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results,” he said.
“Then what makes us different from the others?”
Amaechi maintained that the ADC was founded on the principle of providing Nigerians with a credible political alternative capable of protecting democratic values.
“The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion,” he said.
The former governor further accused the party of engaging in the same electoral practices it had previously criticised in other political parties.
“A party that criticises the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results, and other electoral malpractices that lead to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. This is not acceptable,” he stated.

Amaechi’s rejection of the outcome is expected to deepen tension within the ADC as the party moves closer to finalising its presidential nomination process ahead of the 2027 general election.
The leadership of the ADC had yet to officially respond to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
