Reports from local law enforcement indicated that the incident occurred in 2022, after the man reportedly met the woman at her place of work. According to the case findings, he later invited her out socially. What began as a casual outing, however, allegedly took a different turn.
Authorities disclosed that after stopping at his residence under the pretext of picking up an item, the woman was subjected to acts which led to the charges. Despite her discomfort and requests for him to stop, Ogundipe persisted, and it was only after the intervention of a routine police patrol that she was able to find safety.

Although she was initially reluctant to speak out, officers observed her distress and encouraged her to explain what had occurred. This ultimately led to Ogundipe’s arrest and prosecution.
During the trial, Ogundipe told the court that the woman had consented to the encounter, but his claims were dismissed by the jury.
The presiding judge acknowledged the character references presented on Ogundipe’s behalf but concluded that the seriousness of the incident required a custodial sentence. The court also noted that Ogundipe may face removal from the UK upon completion of his prison term.
In a statement read in court, the woman expressed how the incident had deeply affected her life and emotional wellbeing. She shared how the experience left her withdrawn, fearful, and forced her to leave her job. She described the emotional weight of having her confidence and personal security taken away.
Despite the trauma, she encouraged others who may have faced similar situations to come forward, assuring them that help and support are available.
Law enforcement authorities involved in the case commended her bravery in speaking out and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that individuals who commit such crimes are brought to justice.
“What happened that night has had a significant impact on her life, and her courage in coming forward has been vital to securing this conviction,” one of the officers involved stated.
Authorities also called on others who may be experiencing abuse or inappropriate behaviour to report to the police, stressing that every case will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and seriousness.
