Eko Hot Blog reports that the APC primary election for the Lagos State House of Assembly was held across various wards in Epe LGA on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Reacting to his emergence as the party’s candidate, the lawmaker stated that the process was peaceful, transparent, and allowed party members to freely choose their preferred aspirants.
According to him, the election was conducted in an atmosphere free of rancour, while agents representing different aspirants ensured the process remained credible and competitive.
“The primary election was very free and fair. The people came out to choose the candidate of their choice, and the result came well in my favour,” Tobun said.
He added that his victory across the constituency demonstrated the confidence reposed in him by the people to continue representing them in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Tobun commended party members, supporters, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the exercise, noting that the conduct of aspirants and their representatives helped strengthen internal democracy within the APC.

The legislator also sent a message to his supporters, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the ruling party and its leaders at both the state and national levels.
He called on party faithful to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos Deputy Governor candidate Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and federal lawmaker Wale Raji in order to sustain development across the country.
“Keep the flags flying and continue supporting the progressives,” he urged.
Tobun also appealed to aspirants who did not emerge victorious to accept the outcome of the primaries in good faith, stressing that elections naturally produce winners and others who may not succeed at the polls.
According to him, he does not regard defeated contestants as failures, but as worthy participants who contributed meaningfully to the democratic process.
“I do not see them as losers. They are good contestants,” he stated.
The APC chieftain further urged opposition members and political stakeholders to work together with the winning team to advance the development of Epe, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.
