Barcelona came agonizingly close to overturning a heavy first-leg deficit but ultimately fell short in their semifinal clash with Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou. After losing 4-0 in the first leg, the Spanish champions mounted an impressive comeback attempt, with youngster Marc Bernal scoring twice and Raphinha converting a penalty.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that despite their efforts, Atlético held on to secure their first final appearance since 2013.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised his team’s effort, saying, “We are disappointed with the result, but proud of the performance. We created numerous chances and played exceptionally well, yet it wasn’t enough in the end.”

Atlético manager Diego Simeone emphasized his side’s deserved progression, noting, “Over the two legs, we were the better team. Returning to the final is a huge achievement for us after several near misses.”
The match started with Barcelona pressing aggressively. Fermin Lopez nearly opened the scoring with a long-range effort, setting the tone for the home side’s attacking intent.
Early in the game, Barcelona were hampered by the injury of Jules Kounde. Antoine Griezmann, facing his former club, posed threats on the counter, while Ferran Torres had chances saved and missed opportunities.
Barcelona eventually broke the deadlock when Lamine Yamal delivered a precise cross for Bernal to finish from close range. Moments later, Bernal assisted a second goal before halftime.
Pedri earned a penalty, and Raphinha converted, bringing Barcelona within two goals of Atlético.
In the second half, Joao Cancelo came close to reducing the deficit further, only to be denied by Atlético goalkeeper Juan Musso. Bernal struck again, volleying home a cross from Cancelo, leaving the scoreline tantalizingly close but insufficient to overturn the aggregate deficit.

Flick even pushed centre-back Ronald Araujo forward in the dying minutes to chase a fourth goal, but Atlético held firm through six minutes of stoppage time.
Koke highlighted Atlético’s resilience, saying, “It’s been five years without a trophy. We knew it would be tough, but the team showed great determination to make it to the final.”
Simeone added that it was uncertain whether Antoine Griezmann would feature in the final, with rumours linking him to MLS side Orlando City.
Barcelona now turn their focus back to La Liga, where they hold a four-point lead over Real Madrid, and the Champions League round of 16, where it will face Newcastle United.
Flick concluded, “The team’s quality is exceptional. I’m proud of what they showed today despite the outcome.”
