Atletico Madrid have announced the completion of the signing of Benfica attacker, Joao Felix for a club record €126 million ($142m).
All of Manchester City, Juventus, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Real Madrid had been linked to the player before Digeo Simeone-led Atletico secured his signature.
According to reports, the Argentine also played a key role in convincing Joao Felix to join Atleti having contacted the player directly, with the most expensive transfer in the club’s history now formalized.
The deal makes the teenager, widely believed to be Portugal’s next big star, the third most expensive footballer of all time behind Paris Saint-Germain duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Likened to Kaka and Antoine Griezmann, Joao Felix has already been called up to the Portugal national team despite being a teenager still being a teenager and big things are expected of him beginning with next season in La Liga.
