Jaiyesimi raised serious concerns over rising security threats, including attacks on drivers that have reportedly resulted in fatalities and cases of vehicle theft linked to criminal activity.
He also criticised the lack of adequate support systems, such as effective response measures and compensation for victims, and called on lawmakers to act decisively.
The drivers expressed frustration with previous engagements with ride-hailing companies, noting that these talks have not produced binding or enforceable solutions. They urged the Assembly to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure compliance across the sector.

Responding on behalf of the Speaker, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Hon. Temitope Adewale praised the drivers for conducting a peaceful protest.
He explained that the petition would follow proper legislative procedures, including review by relevant committees before being brought to the House for deliberation.
Adewale assured the petitioners that their concerns would receive careful and objective consideration, while urging all stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient as the process unfolds.
Other lawmakers present, including Aro Moshood Abiodun and Apata Samuel, also acknowledged the drivers’ concerns.
The Assembly reiterated its commitment to finding a fair resolution to the challenges faced by app-based transport operators in Lagos.
