She and another man, Ahmad Rashad Nadir, were suspended from Bankstown Hospital after the video—filmed on an anonymous online chat platform—surfaced online. However, authorities have stated there is “no evidence” the pair harmed any patients.

The footage, reportedly filmed inside a hospital and shared by an Israeli content creator, allegedly shows Ms. Abu Lebdeh and Mr. Nadir discussing refusing treatment to Israeli patients and making violent remarks. The video triggered widespread outrage, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemning it as “disgusting” and “vile.”

New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb praised the swift action taken in the investigation, calling the charges a significant step forward.

Ms. Abu Lebdeh has been granted bail and is set to appear in court on 19 March. Mr. Nadir has not been charged.

The case comes amid a broader crackdown on hate crimes in Australia, following a series of antisemitic attacks, arson incidents, and graffiti targeting Jewish communities.

Authorities recently discovered a caravan filled with explosives and a list of Jewish targets in Sydney, which police warned could have caused a “mass casualty event.”
