Speaking on her journey so far, Ayra Starr said earning a second Grammy nomination has strengthened her confidence and renewed her faith in herself and her craft. According to her, the first nomination came as a shock, but the second felt like a sign to trust both God and her abilities more deeply.
“I am very grateful to be a two-time Grammy nominee. The first time, it felt unreal. The second time made me realise that I need to believe in myself more,” she said.
“I’ve worked with many amazing artistes and I’m open to more collaborations, but Burna Boy is still my number one.”

The nomination came through her hit song Gimme Dat, a collaboration with Wizkid, which earned a spot in the Best African Music Performance category. The track was released in April 2025.
Grammy nominees were unveiled in November 2025, ahead of the award ceremony scheduled for February 1, 2026. Reacting to the honour, Ayra Starr described the recognition as a reassuring milestone in her growing career.
