News of his release was shared by fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi, who took to Instagram to celebrate the development.

In his post, Fabiyi stated that Baba Ijesha had been “officially free and out,” adding that the appeal court cleared him of allegations of defilement involving a minor.
Fabiyi wrote:
“You are now officially FREE AND OUT. Baba Ijesha is not just back but BETTER. I am also happy you were cleared by the APPEAL COURT of ever having sex/defile any child or minor. The 7-year-old story is a charade. We live in a terrible world where sentiments and wickedness rise above the rule of law and truth.”
Baba Ijesha had been sentenced to 16 years in prison on July 14, 2022, after the Lagos State High Court found him guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

His conviction had sparked widespread reactions across the entertainment industry and beyond, becoming one of the most discussed legal cases in recent years.
The Appeal Court’s decision marks a major turning point in the long-running case, effectively nullifying the earlier verdict that sent the comedian to prison.
Further details on the judgment are expected to emerge as legal documents are made public.
