Over two million residents of Zamfara State turned out in Gusau, the state capital, to welcome the visiting Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle Maradun, while showing strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term in office.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the minister, who arrived on Wednesday, was reportedly surprised by the massive turnout, with crowds enthusiastically chanting President Tinubu’s name as the “Man of the Moment.” The visit was part of Matawalle’s customary outreach to his constituents, aimed at expressing gratitude for their continued support of the Tinubu administration.

The programme also highlighted President Tinubu’s achievements, particularly in tackling insecurity, which has reportedly been steadily receding in major towns and villages across Zamfara State.
Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at Hadejia Jamaare River Basin and a staunch supporter of both the minister and the President, praised Matawalle for his political acumen and grassroots engagement.

He said: “Northern leaders and political office holders should emulate Bello Matawalle Maradun’s approach. Since his tenure as governor and after leaving office, he has never abandoned his people. He shares in their pains and happiness.”
Kwankwaso added that Matawalle’s dedication has strengthened public confidence in President Tinubu’s government, noting that the vast majority of Zamfara citizens are ready to re-elect the President in 2027. “Over three million people came out to welcome him today, most without invitation. The sheer enthusiasm is a lesson for other northern leaders,” he said.
He further urged political appointees from the North to engage directly with their communities, promoting Tinubu’s Renewed Hopes Agenda and making citizens aware of the government’s developmental programmes. “We commend Bello Matawalle for showcasing the good works of the Tinubu administration. By 2027, northerners will en masse re-elect President Tinubu, and Zamfara will return to Bello Matawalle Maradun under the APC, after the PDP government’s failures,” Kwankwaso asserted.
