In a detailed public notice released on Monday, June 29, 2026, via its verified X account, the university administration disclosed that its attention had been drawn to several counterfeit documents circulating across digital platforms.
These forged materials were reportedly being brandished by individuals falsely claiming an academic alliance or qualification from the school.
The university’s proactive alert became necessary after social media went into a frenzy over an alleged degree certificate presented to defend Carter Efe’s educational background following intense online scrutiny by fans and critics alike.
The specific document flagged by the institution was identified as a purported “Honorary Certificate” allegedly issued by an entity named the “Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club.” The document claimed to honor Carter Efe for achieving a “First Class Upper” grade in his undergraduate studies.
To prevent any further misinterpretation or public deception, the university management took the opportunity to explain the structural irregularities within the forged document that immediately exposed it as a fake.
According to institutional records, the “Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club” does not exist. While Biochemistry is an active academic program under the Benjamin S. Carson (Snr) College of Health and Medical Sciences, computer-related associations operate under an entirely separate division, the School of Computing and Engineering Sciences.
The creators of the counterfeit document erroneously merged two unrelated departments into one fictional student body.
Furthermore, the university clarified its official grading terminology, highlighting a fundamental error made by the counterfeiters.
Babcock University explained that it does not use the phrase “First Class Upper” anywhere within its grading systems or official communications.
The institution emphasized that undergraduate student clubs, departmental associations, or social groups have absolutely no legal or administrative mandate to issue degrees, honors, certificates, or any form of academic titles.

Authentic validation of a student’s academic performance can only be verified through formal documents bearing the legal weight of the university’s central administration.
This brewing controversy traces its roots back to an online broadcast in late September 2025, during which Carter Efe reacted defensively to live stream viewers who questioned his intellect and background.
During that broadcast, the entertainer confidently asserted that he had attended Babcock University, studied Biochemistry, and emerged as the top student in his graduating class with a first-class degree.
While the public initially dismissed his remarks as part of his typical comedic bravado or online persona, the sudden appearance of a physical certificate matching his claims in June 2026 forced the university to intervene to protect its institutional reputation.
Babcock University has urged corporate employers, local and international educational institutions, professional bodies, government ministries, and the general public to completely disregard the forged certificate and any similar documents circulating on social media.
The management issued a definitive warning that anyone found producing, distributing, presenting, or utilizing fake academic documents for employment, admissions, immigration benefits, promotions, or other personal advantages risks immediate state investigation and criminal prosecution.
The university stated that it is prepared to take comprehensive civil and criminal action against any individual, group, or organization found to be unlawfully exploiting or misrepresenting its official name, corporate logo, institutional seal, or academic records.
To minimize the risks associated with credentials fraud, Babcock University advised members of the public and prospective employers to always conduct direct verification through the Office of the Registrar before honoring any academic claims linked to the school.
