Residents of Otukpo-Nobi Community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday held a mass burial for victims killed during last Sunday’s attack by suspected armed herders.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the emotional ceremony brought together bereaved families, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community members and sympathisers, who gathered to pay their last respects to those who lost their lives in the attack.

The victims were among eight people reportedly killed when suspected armed herders invaded the community in the early hours of Sunday. Several other residents sustained injuries, while many fled the area for safety.
Speaking during the burial, mourners described the attack as devastating and renewed calls on the Federal Government and security agencies to take decisive action to end the recurring violence in Benue State.

They also urged authorities to arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killings and strengthen security across vulnerable communities to enable displaced residents to return home safely.
Special prayers were offered for the victims, as residents expressed hope that peace and normalcy would soon return to the community.
