Supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, alongside civil society groups, gathered at the entrance of the National Assembly on Wednesday, calling for Senate President Godswill Akpabio to step down pending an investigation into allegations made against him.
The protesters arrived as early as 8 a.m., ahead of the plenary session, carrying banners with messages such as “Akpabio Must Go” and “Protect Women’s Rights.”

Their demonstration follows allegations made by Akpoti-Uduaghan, who, during a live television interview last week, accused Akpabio of victimizing her after she rejected his alleged sexual advances, EKO HOT BLOG reports.
The controversy stemmed from a dispute over a Senate seating arrangement change on February 20, which sparked heated reactions within the chamber.
