His passing has since drawn emotional reactions from judges, lawyers, scholars and faith-based organisations across the country.
In a statement issued on December 16, 2025, the Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS), National Headquarters in Abuja, described the death as a painful blow to Nigeria’s justice system and the wider Muslim community.
The association noted that Justice Muhammad’s years in public service were defined by restraint, humility and unwavering commitment to the rule of law, stressing that his leadership at the Supreme Court reflected discipline rather than personal grandeur.

NAMLAS further recalled his role as a mentor to young legal minds, particularly Muslim law students, whom he consistently encouraged through guidance and personal engagement during his lifetime.
Condolences were extended to his family, the Nigerian Judiciary and the nation, with prayers offered for divine mercy and eternal rest for the late jurist.
