- Participants marched through major parts of the state capital carrying placards
- The protesters urged security agencies and government officials to intensify rescue efforts
Civil society organisations on Monday took to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, to demand the safe return of pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the protest follows an earlier demonstration by teachers in Ogbomoso, where the incident occurred, as concerns continue to grow over the fate of those still being held captive.
Participants marched through major parts of the state capital carrying placards and banners calling for urgent action from authorities to secure the release of the victims.

Some of the messages displayed by the demonstrators read, “Every Life Matters, Stop the Kidnappers,” “47 Abducted, Scared and Alone,” and “Stand Up! Speak Out.”
The protesters urged security agencies and government officials to intensify rescue efforts, stressing that the continued captivity of the schoolchildren and teachers has heightened fear among residents and the education community.
