The victim was discovered in a severely emaciated condition at a family residence in Shadawanka village following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the inhumane treatment as the victim undergoes urgent medical rehabilitation.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, a team of detectives led by the DPO ‘B’ Division visited the scene and found the victim in a severely emaciated and weakened state.
“Information was received that one Muhammad Lawan had been confined by his biological father, Mohammed Lawan, in his house for seventeen (17) years without care,” the statement read.

The police noted that the victim had lived in these harrowing conditions without adequate food or medical attention for nearly twenty years.
The suspect, Mohammed Lawan, was promptly arrested at the scene and remains in police custody for questioning.
Following directives from the Commissioner of Police, the rescued victim has been conveyed to a hospital for urgent medical attention and psychological rehabilitation to aid his recovery from the prolonged trauma.
CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed the DPO to conduct a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding this inhumane act.
The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough probe to ensure justice is served for the victim.
