The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed rumors that former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and murdered.
Instead, the police confirmed that he was found dead in a chair in his hotel room in Abuja after hosting a female guest.
Parradang’s body was discovered a day after he checked into the Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, by a concerned friend, a military officer, who arrived with hotel staff to check on him.
In a statement titled “FCT Police Respond to Misreported Death of Retired Comptroller General David Parradang,” issued by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the authorities clarified the situation, stating there was no evidence of kidnapping or foul play.
The statement read: “At approximately 12:00 PM on March 3, 2025, Mr. Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, in a black Mercedes Benz and paid ₦22,000 for a one-night stay. Shortly after checking in, he requested that a hotel attendant escort a female guest to his room. The lady left the hotel around 4:00 PM the same day.
Afterward, Mr. Parradang did not leave his room. At around 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025, his concerned military officer friend traced him to the hotel. Upon arriving, the officer, along with the hotel receptionist, went to his room, where they found him deceased in a chair.
The Durumi Police Station was alerted, and officers swiftly arrived to secure the scene, photograph, and collect evidence for the investigation.”
His remains have been transferred to the National Hospital for further examination, and hotel staff are fully cooperating with the investigation.
The police also confirmed that efforts are underway to locate and arrest the female guest who was last seen with him.
The FCT Police Command urged the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified claims, especially those alleging kidnapping or assassination, as they could cause undue alarm.
“The FCT Police Command is dedicated to thoroughly investigating the circumstances of Mr. Parradang’s death and ensuring justice is served,” the statement concluded. Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
