According to SaharaReporters, a Facebook user, Orioye Chanter Ijobaibile, streamed a live video of the raging fire, describing the horrifying scene. He said, “People are inside the cars, and it is burning. What’s even more concerning is that many other fuel trucks are passing by the fire. That’s dangerous. They could catch fire too. We’re just waiting for security to arrive and stop them. People are burning inside the flames.”

As of the latest update, emergency responders have yet to arrive, and the fire continues to spread, threatening nearby vehicles and properties.

This disaster adds to a troubling trend of fuel tanker explosions across Nigeria. Just weeks ago, a similar incident in Niger State left multiple victims burned to death when a tanker caught fire on a busy highway.

In January, a catastrophic explosion near Suleja, Niger State, claimed at least 98 lives. The blast occurred when individuals tried to siphon fuel from a crashed tanker with a generator, sparking a deadly fire.

A previous explosion in October 2024 in Majiya, Jigawa State, led to significant casualties, with reports initially confirming at least 94 deaths, later revised to over 140. Many residents had gathered to collect fuel from an overturned tanker before it exploded, causing widespread destruction.
