According to a statement released on Monday by CSC Afolabi Babawale, National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, the truck was seized following an intelligence tip-off. It was intercepted while in transit near the Eleme Flyover in Elelewon, Port Harcourt.
Commandant AS Dandaura, leader of the CG’S SIS, stated that operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene, where they impounded a red-head navy blue container truck with registration number AGL574XY. The truck was reportedly loaded with crude oil siphoned from vandalized wellheads and pipelines.
The suspects abandoned the truck and fled as security personnel approached. Commandant Dandaura confirmed that the confiscated truck and its contents are now part of an ongoing investigation to track down the perpetrators of the economic sabotage.
“For the records, the exhibits recovered include a red-head navy blue container truck with 10 tyres (Reg. No. AGL574XY) and an estimated 70,000 litres of stolen crude oil,” he stated.

He further noted that, upon conclusion of investigations, the NSCDC would seek a court order for the forfeiture of the truck and its contents. Proceeds from the forfeiture would be remitted to the Proceeds of Crime Account (POCA).
