The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has said the association’s visit to President Bola Tinubu and First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was to felicitate with the First Family during the Christmas season and to appreciate their efforts in governance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that after the visit, Okoh said CAN was encouraged by what it described as the administration’s commitment to caring for the poor, promoting national development, and strengthening peace and security across the country.

“We are here to felicitate with Mr President and his wife, the mother of the nation, during this Christmas period, and to appreciate them for what they are doing for Nigerians,” Okoh said.
He noted that the association was particularly impressed by the government’s concern for vulnerable Nigerians, its determination to move the country forward, and recent efforts aimed at improving security.
“We commend the concern shown for the poor, the resolve to advance national development, and the steps taken to ensure that Nigerians live in peace,” he added.
Okoh described the current festive season as reassuring, pointing out that it marked a clear departure from previous years when Christmas celebrations were often disrupted by violent attacks on places of worship.
“This Christmas is special,” he said. “It is the first Christmas in many years that we were not woken up in the middle of the night with phone calls reporting attacks on churches. This is a testimony we must share, and we pray that this experience will continue.”
He said the visit also provided an opportunity for CAN to reaffirm its readiness to work with the Federal Government in promoting national unity, development, and social cohesion.

“We are here to pledge our commitment to continue working with the President for the development and progress of our country, Nigeria,” the CAN President said.
Responding to questions on recent tensions following comments by the President of the United States on security in Nigeria, Okoh said the Tinubu administration had shown responsiveness and renewed commitment to addressing security concerns.
“The President has been responsive,” he said. “We are seeing renewed efforts to strengthen the security architecture and to ensure that Nigerians go out in peace and return home safely.”
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Okoh expressed cautious optimism about the direction of government action.
“There is still a lot to be done,” he said. “But we believe the President has started well, and we hope these efforts will be sustained so that Nigerians can begin to see more visible results in the coming year.”
