The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old carpenter, Auwal Mohammed, for allegedly stealing four brand-new 43-inch plasma televisions from a client’s home.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Wakil said the suspect, a resident of Sabon Railway area in Bauchi metropolis, was working on furniture at the victim’s residence when he discovered the televisions and hatched a plan to steal them.
“Auwal Mohammed allegedly moved the televisions to a hidden location within the house where he kept them for two weeks before taking them to a neighbour’s residence for safekeeping,” Wakil explained.

He added that the suspect collected N50,000 on credit from the neighbour and later sold one of the stolen TVs for N40,000 to a known receiver of stolen goods.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and efforts are in place to apprehend his accomplice and recover the remaining stolen items.
“Upon conclusion of investigations, the suspect will be formally profiled and charged to court,” Wakil added.
