EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement on its official page, the NYSC described the allegation as “entirely unfounded,” stressing that the action was taken strictly for disciplinary reasons in line with its bye-laws.
According to the scheme, Ms Ushie, with state code LA/24B/8325, is among 131 corps members whose certificates were withheld over various infractions. It explained that her service year was extended by two months because she failed to attend the April 2025 biometric clearance exercise.
The statement noted that the extension is a standard disciplinary measure applied equally to all affected corps members and is not unique to her case.
The NYSC urged the public not to politicise the matter, emphasising that service extensions for non-compliance with clearance requirements have been a long-standing practice within the scheme.

“The NYSC Scheme remains committed to discharging its mandate in line with the dictates of the constitution,” the statement added.
