The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed plans to attract at least five more governors from opposition parties, as the ruling party intensifies its political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This development follows the recent resignation of the party’s immediate past National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking to The PUNCH, APC National Vice Chairman (South East), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, disclosed that discussions with several governors are at advanced stages. He named governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, Kano, and either Abia or Enugu as possible defectors in the coming months.
“We are talking about governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, Kano, either Abia or Enugu. In the next two months, you will see them join us officially,” Arodiogbu stated.
The APC has recently welcomed high-profile defectors, including Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former PDP vice-presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, and other lawmakers. Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) also publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Arodiogbu dismissed the proposed mega opposition alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi as a media strategy with no serious political threat.
“These politicians just want to stay relevant. Nigerians are aligning with APC because we are delivering,” he said.
He also hinted at possible talks with Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, Rivers leaders, and possibly Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, although stakeholders in Osun APC are reportedly opposed to Adeleke’s entry.

Arodiogbu clarified that despite speculations, President Tinubu has not endorsed Soludo for 2027, noting the APC is backing Nicholas Ukachukwu for Anambra.
