Covid-19: LASG Urges Public, Private School Administrators To Set-up Isolation Centre In School
Dr. Mrs. Olufolayimika Ayandele, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Education District III, has urged public and private school administrators to create an isolation centre in schools to prepare for the students ahead of resumption.
Ayandele told EkoHotBlog in Lagos, on Thursday.
She said that the development became necessary to tackle the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic in schools.
“Although, we have not recorded any cases of Covid-19 victims in school by either student or teacher since resumption of senior school students.

“The feedback from our school monitoring team has been encouraging.
“The students writing external examination have been complying with Covid-19 rules in schools.
“The isolation center is prepared ahead for the high number of students that will be resuming school soonest, ” she said.
According to her, It was part of a precautionary measure that should be put in place by directors of school to fight against the virus.
“The Lagos state government has played its part and done it best to combat Covid-19 pandemic in schools.
“School owners and administrators should also complement government efforts by providing other necessary apparatus needed to thwart the pandemic in schools.
“It should be a win-win thing, it is not government race alone.
“The private sector should support the government to revolt against the pandemic in schools and outside school premises, ” she said.
She added that any student found with Covid-19 symptom will be taken to the isolation room before calling the NCDC official for pick up.
Ayandele said that as part of the Lagos state government effort to control the spread of the pandemic, public school teachers are currently undergoing Covid-19 Rapid Response training.
“The essence of the training is for the teachers to know the first things to do when they detect a Covid-19 patient.
“It will enable them to know how to curtail the spread of the virus by isolation the victim and for them to also be protected, ” she said.
The tutor general called on the public, private partnerships support to deter the spread of the pandemic.
“Government alone cannot do it, it requires other relevant stakeholders cooperations, ” she said.
She said that the Lagos government has done all the needful in public schools ahead of resumption.
She said that the government has provided sanitizers, liquid soup, regular flow of water for handwashing, nose masks, and other necessary preventive measures for the students, staff, and the teachers.
Ayandele urged students, staff, and teachers to comply with Lagos state government Covid-19 guidelines for their safety.
