The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Damilola James, has expressed gratitude to God, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, party leaders and supporters following her nomination for the 2027 governorship election.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement shared on her X account on Wednesday, James described her emergence as a reflection of divine grace and the inclusive political culture that has defined Lagos State.

According to her, the nomination serves as a reminder of the limitless opportunities available to residents of the state and the possibilities that exist for women and young people in leadership.
“Today is a reminder of the endless possibilities that have defined our Lagos. It is my hope that my story continues to serve as a reminder that there is no ceiling to our greatness,” she stated.
James said she remains grateful to God for guiding her journey and providing the opportunity to serve at a higher level.
She also thanked President Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for their support and leadership, praising the president for strengthening democratic values and steering the country’s economic reforms.
The APC deputy governorship candidate further expressed appreciation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, APC governorship candidate Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and his wife for their encouragement and support.
James acknowledged the role of party leaders, elders and members across Lagos in her emergence, describing the nomination as a responsibility she does not take for granted.
She also commended the Governance Advisory Council, led by Tajudeen Olusi, for its continued guidance and support to the party.
The deputy governorship candidate extended appreciation to traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, youth organisations, grassroots mobilisers and party supporters throughout the state.

Reflecting on her political journey, James paid tribute to the people of Badagry and Badagry West, where she previously served, describing their support as a constant source of inspiration.
She dedicated her nomination to women, youths and aspiring leaders, urging them to remain hopeful and actively participate in governance.
“This moment belongs to all of us, especially our young people, women and girls. I am grateful for your outpouring of support and look forward to meeting you all in the coming days,” she said.
James also pledged to work closely with Hamzat to sustain and expand the developmental strides recorded in Lagos State, while promoting progressive governance and inclusive growth.
“It is a tremendous honour to fly the flag of our great party as deputy governorship candidate to our candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. Together, we shall work to consolidate the model of progressive governance that has distinguished Lagos as a centre of excellence,” she added.
She concluded by thanking Lagos residents for their support and praying for continued peace, progress and prosperity in Lagos State and Nigeria.
