EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the new price took effect from August 12, 2025. The company said the move reflects its continued commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and ensuring the availability of petroleum products.
“As part of our unwavering commitment to national development, Dangote Petroleum Refinery assures the public of a consistent and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products,” the statement read.
In line with its sustainability agenda, the refinery also announced plans to introduce 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks to distribute fuel nationwide. The phased rollout of the trucks is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2025.
This price reduction comes just four days after the refinery had increased its ex-depot petrol price to ₦850 per litre.
Industry observers say Nigerians will be watching to see how quickly the new price reflects at filling stations, as pump prices often remain high despite adjustments at the supply level.
The announcement also comes amid ongoing debates within the oil and gas sector over pricing structures and the government’s stance on fuel importation.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has raised concerns about the economics of selling to Dangote in naira when fuel imports appear cheaper.
