However, in a new statement shared on X, Davido admitted that he had reacted out of grief and had not fully understood the commissioner’s role in managing the crisis.
“In memories of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been having sleepless nights alongside other commanders,” Davido wrote. “At this point, the contributions of the police commissioner were not fully appreciated by me. This is a grave oversight.”

Davido acknowledged that the police commissioner and other security chiefs had been making tireless efforts behind the scenes to restore peace.
He expressed his appreciation for their work and urged security forces to intensify their efforts, particularly as Osun State prepares for local government elections on February 22, 2025.

“In memory of the dead and the injured, I urge the security agencies, including the Commissioner of Police, to redouble their efforts to sustain peace. We must allow the rule of law to prevail,” he added.
The singer stressed that a peaceful electoral process would be a major achievement for both politicians and security agencies.
