The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a comprehensive investigation into allegations of child molestation and abuse at a daycare center in Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the move, announced on Friday, February 27, 2026, follows the intense public outcry over resurfaced social media posts from over a decade ago allegedly linked to popular singer Simisola Kosoko, known professionally as Simi.

NAPTIP’s intervention adds a federal dimension to the controversy, which has already seen involvement from Lagos State authorities.
In an official statement, NAPTIP Director-General Binta Adamu Bello directed the agency’s operatives to commence the probe with immediate effect.
The Director-General emphasized that the agency has a duty to investigate the “suggestive online posts” and determine if any criminal violations occurred at the daycare setting mentioned.
“While appreciating the genuine concern of Nigerians on the matter, the Agency wishes to inform the general public that all its communication platforms are active and available to take complaints from anyone who may have been abused or violated,” the statement read.
This federal probe follows an earlier statement by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), which noted that while it cannot prosecute without a primary survivor or concrete evidence, it has referred the matter to the Commissioner of Police for a preliminary investigation.

NAPTIP’s involvement signifies a shift toward documenting potential historical abuse, with the agency urging anyone with useful information regarding the daycare facility to use official channels to report their experiences.
The controversy stems from screenshots of tweets dating back to 2012 and 2013, which critics claim imply inappropriate interactions with children.
Simi has since addressed the allegations, firmly stating that the posts have been taken out of context and were innocent reflections of her time helping at her mother’s daycare while she was a young adult.
Despite her clarifications, the viral nature of the posts has prompted several government bodies to step in to ensure that child protection standards were not breached.
As of Saturday, February 28, security agencies are expected to begin reviewing available digital evidence and reaching out to individuals associated with the facility during the period in question.
NAPTIP has reiterated that child protection remains its top priority and that it will maintain transparency throughout the investigative process.
No formal charges have been filed against the singer, as authorities continue to stress that the current stage is an exploratory fact-finding mission.
