According to the Afrobeats star, Wande Coal approached him to contribute to “Come My Way”, after which he recorded a verse he described as particularly strong.
Davido explained that the disagreement began when Wande Coal planned to release the original version of the song and later use Davido’s contribution for a remix.
He said he did not record his verse with the intention of it being used on a remix, leading to the collaboration being shelved.
However, Wande Coal rejected Davido’s version of events in a post on X.
The veteran singer argued that “Come My Way” already had a release strategy and scheduled date before Davido became involved, questioning why Davido would want to dictate the release arrangement for a song that was originally his.

Wande also stressed that the song performed successfully without Davido’s contribution.
“Come My Way” was released by Wande Coal in 2021 and later appeared on his 2023 album, “Legend or No Legend”. The official version remains a solo recording, while Davido’s contribution has never been officially released.
The disagreement subsequently became more personal as both artistes exchanged remarks on social media.
Davido responded to Wande Coal, triggering another round of reactions from fans and music industry observers.
The exchange has since divided supporters, with some backing Davido’s position that an artiste should have a say in how his contribution is presented, while others believe Wande Coal, as the owner of the original song, had the final authority over its release strategy.
The debate has also revived interest in the unreleased collaboration, which has remained a talking point among fans for years.
Some fans believe the disagreement could have been resolved privately, while others are more interested in whether the two singers can eventually put their differences aside and release the long-awaited collaboration.
For now, neither artiste has announced plans to officially release the version of “Come My Way” featuring Davido.
The dispute has therefore shifted from a disagreement over a music release into a wider debate among fans about ownership, creative control and whether a featured artiste should have a say in the release strategy of a song owned by another artiste.
