Diesel Tanker Accident Causes Chaos At Ibeju Lekki General Hospital

Eko Hot Blog reports that, in a dramatic turn of events yesterday evening, the Ibeju Lekki General Hospital (IBLGH) in Akodo witnessed a tumultuous ordeal as a 17,000-liter diesel tanker toppled over.
The tanked crashed into the hospital’s perimeter fence and caused extensive damage to the catering and store departments.

Thankfully, no lives were lost, and patients, relatives, and staff have since regained a sense of calmness.
The incident occurred between the hours of 4 pm and 9 pm, leaving the hospital in a state of chaos as emergency rescue teams swiftly mobilized to the scene.
Among the agencies responding were the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Fire Service, and various other emergency response units, all coordinated under the directive of the local government chairman, Hon Abdullahi Sesan Olowa.
According to eyewitnesses, the diesel tanker lost control, veered off the road, and careened into the hospital’s perimeter fence before crashing into the catering and store departments.

The impact resulted in the total destruction and scrambling of these crucial hospital facilities, leaving them inoperable.
Despite the devastation, the Managing Director of the hospital took immediate action, ordering additional staff to remain on-site to address any emergency situations that may arise.
Fortunately, there were no reports of fire incidents or casualties, and all emergency measures were swiftly implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on the hospital premises.
In the aftermath of the accident, authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the tanker’s loss of control.
Also, efforts are underway to assess and mitigate the extent of the damage inflicted on the hospital’s infrastructure.
