EKO HOT BLOG reports that familiar with developments within the forum disclosed that cracks have begun to surface over internal leadership control and political positioning as consultations and alignments intensify within the ruling party.
According to Arise News, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the forum, Hope Uzodinma, has insisted that he remains fully in charge of the PGF alongside his deputy, Uba Sani.
However, another bloc within the governors’ forum is reportedly backing Dapo Abiodun and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who are alleged to be spearheading a separate faction within the group.
While neither camp has publicly reacted to the reported division, insiders within the party said tensions have been building in recent weeks as key political stakeholders reposition ahead of the next presidential election cycle.
The development is expected to shape fresh political calculations within the APC, especially given the strategic influence governors wield in the party’s structure and decision-making process.
Amid the uncertainty, reports also surfaced claiming that the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, had emerged as the new chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, replacing Uzodinma.
The alleged decision was reportedly reached during a special meeting of APC governors held on Thursday night in Abuja.
According to Vanguard, the closed-door meeting took place shortly after Uzodinma represented APC governors during the presentation of President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja.
Sources quoted in the report claimed that about 20 APC governors attended the meeting.
However, the Progressive Governors Forum has denied reports suggesting that Uzodinma was removed as chairman of the body.
The forum described the reports circulating online as false and unfounded.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken.
Aluko added that the forum’s secretariat had no record of any agreement or resolution concerning the removal of Uzodinma from office.
He urged members of the public to disregard the reports, insisting that they were misleading and inaccurate.
