Bolt Driver Makes U-turn, Apologizes To Lawmaker Ikwechegh Over Altercation
On Thursday, Stephen Abuwatseya, an e-hailing driver, issued a public apology to Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member representing Aba North/South in Abia State, following a recent altercation that occurred while Abuwatseya was delivering a package to the lawmaker.
In a video statement shared with the press, Abuwatseya expressed remorse for any actions or words that may have provoked the lawmaker’s reaction during the incident.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that each he began his statement by addressing Nigerians, saying, “Good day, Nigerians. My name is Stephen Abuwatseya. I had a misunderstanding with Rt. Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh a few days ago. I actually want to apologize to him for whatever I must have said or done to provoke him to that level of anger.”
He continued by calling for unity and forgiveness, urging Nigerians not to let issues of tribal, religious, or regional differences divide the nation.
“Please, Nigerians, let’s forgive and forget, as it’s even contained in our Lord’s Prayer, that ‘Lord, please forgive us, as we forgive those who trespass against us.’ For there is no justice without forgiveness. Thank you very much,” he added.
Abuwatseya also took the opportunity to express gratitude to his family and supporters who stood by him throughout the ordeal.
“I want to use this medium to thank my family members, my parents, my brothers, my uncles, and everybody that stood by me. I want to thank all of you. I love you all. Thank you. God bless Nigeria.”
The incident, which quickly went viral, reportedly began when Abuwatseya arrived at Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, to deliver a package of snails. A video captured by the driver shows Ikwechegh angrily confronting him, slapping, and verbally insulting him after he requested the lawmaker to come outside to collect the package.
Following the incident, Ikwechegh himself issued a public apology, acknowledging his actions and expressing regret for his behavior toward the driver.
