A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja has remanded a woman, Chinwendu Fidelia Ohanebo, in a correctional facility following her arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦42.345 million fraud.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Ohanebo was arraigned on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, before Justice M.A. Lawal by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC on a 2-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretences and stealing by conversion.

The EFCC alleged that Ohanebo collected ₦42,345,000 from Musa Muhammed Jidda in 2025 for the proposed supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
According to the anti-graft agency, the defendant allegedly received the money after agreeing to supply 45 litres of PMS at the rate of ₦941 per litre.
The first count alleged that Ohanebo obtained the money under false pretences with intent to defraud, contrary to Sections 1(1)(a) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
The second count accused her of dishonestly converting the same ₦42.345 million belonging to Jidda to her personal use, contrary to Section 280(1)(b) and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
When the charges were read to her, Ohanebo pleaded guilty to the first count but not guilty to the second count.
Following her plea, prosecution counsel, H.U. Kofarnaisa, asked the court for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to commence trial on the second count.
Justice Lawal subsequently adjourned the matter for a review of the facts surrounding the first count and commencement of trial on the second allegation.
The judge also ordered that Ohanebo be remanded in a correctional facility pending the continuation of proceedings.
The court is expected to consider the facts relating to her guilty plea on the first count while the prosecution proceeds with its case on the allegation of stealing by conversion.
