El-Rufai Strikes Hard, Accuses Governor Sani of Demanding 40% Kickbacks from Contractors

• El-Rufai accused Sani of personally handling contract documents in Abuja and negotiating deals with contractors
• El-Rufai alleged that during his tenure, contracts worth billions were executed without his direct involvement. 
• Governor Uba Sani has not directly addressed Nasir El-Rufai’s allegations.

In a recent interview with Freedom Radio Kaduna, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai made serious allegations against his successor, Governor Uba Sani.

El-Rufai who made this allegation during an interview with Freedom Radio Kaduna said Sani has been demanding kickbacks amounting to 40% of contract sums as bribes before approving projects in the state, Eko Hot Blog reports.

“I have never stolen a kobo from anyone. If any contractor has given me a bribe, let him come forward,” El-Rufai stated.

El-Rufai alleged that during his tenure, contracts worth billions were executed without his direct involvement.

“When the ICPC invited many contractors, they testified that they had never met me. Contracts worth billions were executed without me ever meeting the contractors—I worked only through commissioners and permanent secretaries,” he added.

El-Rufai accused Sani of personally handling contract documents in Abuja and negotiating deals with contractors, in exchange for kickbacks amounting to 40% of the contract sums.

“Uba goes to Abuja with contract documents, offering them to contractors in exchange for a 40 per cent kickback. We know what is happening. They assumed that was how we ran the government, but they are wrong,” he said.

As of now, Governor Uba Sani has not directly addressed Nasir El-Rufai’s allegations.
