England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Toney, 30, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli, was charged on July 31 over an incident alleged to have occurred on Wardour Street in Soho on December 6, 2025. He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.

Responding to the charge, a spokesperson for the England international said: “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”

The scheduled court appearance comes just two days before England’s UEFA Nations League fixture against reigning World Cup champions Spain at Wembley, creating uncertainty over the striker’s availability for the match.

Toney was handed a surprise recall to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup. He made a late substitute appearance in the semi final against Argentina before starting England’s 6 to 4 victory over France in the third place play off.

The striker joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli from Brentford in August 2024 in a £40 million transfer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards.

During his spell at Brentford, Toney scored 72 goals in 141 appearances, including 36 goals across three Premier League seasons, helping cement his reputation as one of England’s top strikers.

Toney began his professional career at Northampton Town before moving to Newcastle United. He later had spells with Peterborough United and Brentford before securing his move to Al Ahli.

He was also part of England’s squad that reached the Euro 2024 final after returning from a gambling suspension that sidelined him for the first half of the 2023 to 2024 season.
