Mrs Adefisayo spoke during the Education Stakeholders Meeting hosted by the leadership of Education District 3 at Epe Grammar School in the Epe division of the state.

Speaking during her address, Mrs Folashade noted that it was imperative to idolise teachers and principals taking cognizance of the selfless painstaking efforts they exhibit in developing a child’s domains of learning which she said was capable of having multiplier effects on the learners and coming generations.

”There’s no job that is as fruitful as the teaching profession because you don’t know what you are doing, you are touching eternity because any child you teach, you are touching that child in generations to come. That child’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren would benefit because you taught one child in the class.

“So, please take that job with extreme seriousness. You are in a very powerful position to change the life of that child with the most unselfish job because you accept that your products would be greater,” she said.

Against the backdrop of the District’s trailblazing performance with 83.5% across Lagos State in the previous WAEC examinations, Mrs Folashade further acknowledged the phenomenal accomplishments of the Principals present at the stakeholders’ meeting.

She admonished them to be cautious and discretional in exercising their powers and also to provide the needed support for their teachers to excel.

”To our Principals, you are also very powerful and I ask you to use this power with your discretion and wisdom. When a teacher is good without the support of the Principal, the teachers won’t do well.

“I have also been a teacher both in the private and public sector and I know that it requires all of your mind, heart, soul, strength, ability and competence for you to make your school great,” she said.

In another development, the Commissioner for Education was full of praises of the entire community for their unalloyed support towards ensuring that the schools in their neighbourhood are at peace and safe.

She, therefore, made a passionate appeal to the entire community to put extra effort into safeguarding facilities in schools, stressing that their children and those of their kinsmen are the immediate beneficiaries.

Mrs Adefisayo further lamented the spate of juvenile delinquencies that is becoming a norm in society, noting that enough was enough and parents must rise to their responsibilities to their children as regards upbringing.

”Please, help us give your wards adequate home training. Most of our children don’t have enough home training before being enrolled in school.

“I appeal to you, let us endeavour to give our children a proper upbringing because we have had too many problems with deadly clashes with cutlasses, knives, bottles and so on. I have my children too and I gave them a sound upbringing.

”Fifty (50) children are somewhere, forty-nine (49) are misbehaving, you had better be the one that is behaving properly. Why should they influence you? Why can’t you influence them? Wherever you are, you have to stand like a light,” she said.
