The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has called on residents, community leaders, traders, artisans, and business owners to actively participate in the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise recently reinstated across Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that according to the council chairman, the sanitation exercise will officially resume on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and will subsequently hold on every last Saturday of the month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
The initiative is aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, protecting public health, and preventing hazards such as flooding caused by blocked drainage systems.
Speaking on the development, the council boss emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a healthy environment within the community.
“Maintaining a clean environment is not only a civic duty but also a vital step towards safeguarding public health and preventing environmental hazards.”
Residents were encouraged to make use of the sanitation period to sweep their compounds, clear drainage channels, remove refuse, and ensure proper waste disposal within their homes and business premises.
The council leadership noted that environmental cleanliness reflects the responsibility and progress of a community, urging every household and business establishment within Epe to support the exercise.
“A cleaner environment reflects a responsible and progressive community, and we encourage every resident to take part in this important exercise.”
Authorities also reminded residents that the sanitation exercise will be strictly supervised by the state government, and full compliance is expected from everyone.
The local government reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the cleanliness and environmental sustainability of the Epe community through collective action and cooperation.
