According to the Commander of the Mining Marshals, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Attah John Onoja, the suspects were working for a company that had illegally taken over a quarry lease belonging to another licensed operator.
The enforcement action, which was set by Commandant General Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, is part of a broader effort by the NSCDC to combat illegal mining across the country.
Following the operation, ACC Onoja issued a strong warning that the “era of impunity” for illegal miners is over and that the unit will continue to investigate and prosecute all violators.
This nationwide enforcement drive is aimed at restoring order, increasing government revenue, and improving internal security in Nigeria’s mining sector.
