Rooted in history dating back to the founding of Igbooye by Prince Oshifaderin (Orijeru), the Ewade Ruling House remains a central pillar in the kingdom’s traditional governance structure.
With its two major branches,Okuyemi Okuboyejo and Osekelu, and a long-standing rotational leadership system, the Ewade family has consistently upheld tradition, order, and stability.
Otunba Musa-Adebamowo’s journey in community service began as far back as 1998, marked by deep involvement in grassroots development, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and job creation.
His approach to leadership has been anchored on strong institutions, inclusiveness, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
In February 2005, following the passing of Late Chief Samuel Idowu Keshinro, the Ewade elders appointed Otunba Musa-Adebamowo as Olórí-Ebi.
Demonstrating rare responsibility and humility, he delayed acceptance of the position until December 2005, after conducting wide consultations to fully understand the duties and cultural implications of the office.
Since then, he has built an inclusive executive structure that accommodates all branches and sub-branches of the Ewade Ruling House.
A defining chapter of his leadership was his role in the prolonged legal struggle that restored Ewade Ruling House’s rightful position in the rotational order for the Orijeru of Igbooye.
Through lawful processes and persistence, the Ewade family secured landmark victories at the High Court, Court of Appeal, and finally the Supreme Court in April 2024, culminating in the emergence of His Royal Majesty, Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa.
Beyond legal victories, tributes poured in attesting to the Olórí-Ebi’s integrity and principled nature.
The Chief Imam of Igbooye Kingdom testified that “the Olórí-Ebi is a man of truth; if he must help you, what you tell him must be very truthful.”
One of the Baalẹ also affirmed that his honesty and firmness have earned him respect across the community.
Speaking further, Chief Oluwaseun Okeowo described the Olórí-Ebi as uncompromising on truth, saying “he is strict because he does not like lies, and people who do not understand this go around saying rubbish when they do not have access to manipulate him.”
He added that “if not for his firm ground, land grabbers would have taken over Igbooye Kingdom, but to the glory of God and his determination, that menace was curbed.”
Crowning the tributes, the Orijeru of Igbooye, HRM Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, spoke emotionally about the Olórí-Ebi’s selflessness and personal sacrifices.
“There was a time he forfeited his Law School admission for me,” the monarch revealed.
“I wanted to pay my school fees at Lagos State University, he was also planning for his Law School, but after making all efforts and not getting all the money, he gave me my school and forfeited his admission that year.”
In recognition of their commitment to the progress and unity of Igbooye Kingdom, awards were presented to the Olórí-Ebi of the Ewade Ruling House and other distinguished families who have, over the years, made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the Igbooye community.
The honours celebrated their sacrifices, leadership, and sustained support for peace, cultural preservation, and communal advancement.
The gesture served as a symbol of appreciation for their roles in strengthening the social fabric of Igbooye and inspiring future generations to uphold the values of service, responsibility, and collective progress.
