Wabara said the PDP would readily receive Otti and support him for another term, describing him as a results-oriented leader whose performance has earned respect across political divides.

According to the former Senate President, Otti’s record in office has made him a sought-after figure among several political parties, noting that competence now outweighs party affiliation in public perception.
He spoke in Umuahia on Sunday after the unveiling of Abia State’s 25-Year Development Plan, an event attended by political stakeholders, development partners and government officials.
Wabara explained that the growing interest in Otti from different political camps reflects the impact of his governance, adding that the PDP is keen on attracting leaders with proven capacity.

He also revealed that the party is currently undergoing internal restructuring aimed at rebuilding confidence and strengthening its appeal ahead of the 2027 elections.
The BoT chairman noted that the South-East remains a stronghold of the PDP, stressing that Otti’s defection would significantly boost the party’s influence in the region.
Commending the newly unveiled long-term development blueprint, Wabara described it as a bold vision capable of repositioning Abia State if effectively executed.
He praised the governor’s strides in road construction, healthcare delivery, education reforms, industrial expansion and security, including the introduction of electric buses to ease urban transportation.

Wabara added that good governance should be acknowledged regardless of party lines, insisting that Abians are already witnessing tangible improvements across the state.
He recalled how his earlier commendation of Otti over the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba initially attracted criticism, noting that events have since justified his position.
Wabara urged the governor to weigh the option of joining the PDP, arguing that the party offers a broader national structure capable of withstanding political pressure ahead of 2027.
