Renowned Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, has announced the passing of his father, Dr. Edward Ugboma.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bovi shared the news on his social media platforms on Thursday, February 13, stating, “We, the Ugboma family, wish to announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, and uncle, Dr. Edward Sagini Ugboma (PhD) on this day, the 13th of February 2025.”

He noted that Dr. Ugboma is survived by his children—Judy, Edna, Bovi, Zino, Tano, Tome, and Jiji—as well as many grandchildren and other loving relatives. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and stated that funeral arrangements would be announced soon.

Meanwhile, veteran Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has opened up about his struggles with personal loss and challenges over the past year.

In an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, Balogun recounted how the loss of his daughter in 2024 shattered him beyond comprehension.

He also revealed that just days before his birthday in 2025, he faced another setback, which left him physically injured.

Reflecting on these hardships, he wrote, “Thank God for people who stood by me during those trying times… I will keep saying Alhamdulilah, for Allah will never forsake us. Challenges will come to test your strength, so never lose your guard. Remain strong and steadfast. May the Almighty be with us all.”
