The driver of the Zafira, suspected to be intoxicated, was attempting to climb the hill at high speed when he lost control and rammed into the back of the truck, getting trapped underneath.

“The driver was well known in the area. He was a member of the Ayetoro car park union. It’s painful because he had already reached home but returned to pick up his phone where he was charging it.

Unfortunately, he never made it back home,” an eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous, said.

Another witness, Mr. Wasiu, described the gruesome scene: “The impact was so strong that it took a while to retrieve his body from under the truck. It was a very tragic sight.”

Security agencies were deployed to the scene to remove the wreckage and restore traffic flow in the area.
