The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the upcoming Lagos Fanti Carnival.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the event is set to take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square, a major venue on Lagos Island known for hosting large public gatherings.

To ensure smooth movement during the carnival procession, authorities said vehicular access will be limited on several key roads leading to the venue.

Affected routes include King George V Road near Mobil Filling Station, Flag House and Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout, and the WaterBoy Roundabout close to the Old Defence House.
The government also disclosed that connecting roads to Moloney Street, such as Military Road by the Old Defence Building, Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be temporarily closed for the duration of the event.
To reduce congestion and ease parking concerns, designated parking areas have been provided for attendees.
These include facilities at the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club, Zone 2 Car Park opposite Island Club, Museum Kitchen Car Park, and The Bell Car Park near Island Maternity.

Motorists have been advised to plan their routes in advance and comply with officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority who will be stationed at diversion points to manage traffic flow.
The state government appealed to residents and road users for patience and cooperation, assuring that the measures are aimed at ensuring a safe and successful carnival experience for all participants.
