The visit carries a strong Epe Division flavour; both the monarch and the IGP hail from Epe, deepening the significance of the royal gesture beyond mere protocol.
Speaking after the visit in a social media post, the Alara described Disu as a son connected to the Ilara throne and expressed full confidence in his ability to transform the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Inspector General is highly respected and regarded as a worthy son connected to the revered Ilara throne. He is cherished by my people and remains a pride to the entire Lagos State and the Southwest region,” Oba Ogunsanwo said.

The monarch further described the IGP as a man of character, saying, “He is a devoted, disciplined, and cultured police officer, and I am confident that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Force will be restructured and will attain greater heights, honor, and professionalism.”
Oba Ogunsanwo closed with a prayer for the new police chief, invoking both divine and ancestral blessings on his tenure.
“My dear brother and friend, IGP Disu, may the Almighty God and our ancestors protect you and bestow upon you wisdom, knowledge, and strength to lead the Nigeria Police Force to greater heights and to lay a new foundation for a safer Nigeria,” the royal father prayed.

Disu was appointed IGP by President Bola Tinubu on February 24, 2026, following the resignation of his predecessor, IGP Kayode Egbetokun. He assumed office the following day.
On assumption of duty, the new IGP declared the era of impunity in the Nigeria Police Force over and pledged to rid the force of human rights abuses. He said his immediate priority was to reorient officers to see citizens as their employers, stressing that effective policing depends on public trust and improved welfare for personnel.
