A father in Quetta, Pakistan, has been arrested for killing his teenage daughter over her TikTok videos.

The incident occurred earlier this week when the young woman reportedly refused to dress more modestly and continue uploading what the family considered “indecent” content on the social media platform.
Local police chief Babar Baloch confirmed that the crime is being treated as a case of honour killing.
Honour killings are tragically common in Pakistan, where approximately 1,000 women are murdered each year by family members, fathers, brothers, or sons, under the pretext of protecting family honour, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP)
.
In many cases, these perpetrators go unpunished due to a controversial clause in Islamic law that allows relatives to pardon the killer.
Though Pakistan passed a law in 2016 to reduce the impact of this clause, honour killings remain prevalent, and the new law has not been enough to curb the practice.
Rights groups, such as Amnesty International, continue to call for stronger protections for women and more substantial legal reforms to address the ongoing issue of violence against women in the country.
