Residents of Glorious Road 3 and 4 Avenue, Ita-Eku, off Igirigiri Road in Ado-Ekiti, have deserted their homes following the gruesome death of a police officer, ASP Leramo Caleb, and his wife, Taiwo Leramo.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the couple reportedly hacked each other to death in the early hours of Tuesday in a brutal domestic dispute.

Reports indicate that Taiwo allegedly severed her husband’s private part, prompting Caleb to retaliate by fatally attacking her with a machete.

A visit to the crime scene revealed a chilling sight. Bloodstains were visible at the entrance of their residence, while inside, the floors were covered in blood, and plates of unfinished food remained in the sitting room. The eerie silence in the area reflected the fear and shock that gripped the community.

Journalists struggled to find residents willing to speak, as most people had already fled. Eventually, a local led them to the Chairman of the Landlord Association, Chief Samuel Babalola.

Babalola described the incident as deeply disturbing, stating that Caleb was known as a quiet and reserved man who did not frequently engage with neighbors beyond his official duties.

“It was around 7 a.m. when a woman from the Landlord Association informed me that ASP Leramo Caleb and his wife were fighting, and both had lost their lives,” Babalola said.

Alarmed, Babalola and his vice chairman rushed to the nearest police station in Odo-Ado to report the incident. Law enforcement officers arrived promptly and transported Caleb’s body to the mortuary.

“I never saw them fighting before, though every couple has disagreements. Caleb was a quiet man who attended landlord meetings but was not very social,” he added.
